Random fact- I've worked on light-skinned gals and dark-skinned gals, and the darker-skin gals typically have moister, smoother skin. Why? Regardless of skin color, dead, sloughed-off skin cells appear as a dusty white on their skin. These dead skin cells are MUCH more noticeable on darker skin than lighter, creating an ashy look that no one (other than a zombie) really wants. Solution? Rub on some lotion to render them invisible. Do this often enough, voila, skin becomes moister and smoother.

Melanin has never been an issue for me but race-based variations can be fascinating. In college, I was with an absolutely coal black Haitian girl and made some unexpected discoveries. Based on that alone? It doesn't matter. Black women make up more than half of all the women I've ever found attractive. Most are not light skinned. Well, in comparison to the woman above, they are lighter, but they aren't as light as the first one. Some are light, some dark, some in between.

Skin color doesn't matter to me, the one on top has more attractive facial shapes, but I've seen that with the bottom skin tone as well.
