  • Well, that's fair. There was a time in my life when I wanted sex for sex. That was pretty much it. I was satisfying a basic animal instinct and that was it. Then I met someone who I truly and deeply love - my girlfriend of 14 years with whom I have three children - and sex with that person was different and I wanted that alone.

    Partly it is evolution at work. The male's prehistoric ancestors were looking to impregnate as many females as possible. It is how the species has survived for several hundred thousand years.

    The female is a little bit different. Basic physiology made it such that she could only carry one baby at a time and it took enormous resources to nurse the baby once born. So the female wanted sex - her instinct was to breed and bear young. However, she was looking for the alpha male with healthy sperm to sire healthy babies and who could then find food for mom and baby and ward off predators and rival males.

    So the female instinct, at the most basic level, is different. Both have an instinct for sex but it manifests itself differently. Of course, man is the only creature in creation who transcends his evolutionary origins and so there are a million different variables at play and there are many men and women who may not play to stereotype, so to speak.

    However, in a general way, the old line applies. "For a woman, there is no sex until there is love. For a man, it is not love until there is sex." You seem to fit that pattern.

    I think sex is "intimate enough" to have emotions and feelings taken into consideration.

    In other words, yes, we can have sex without feelings, like doing solo. But when there is another person, I feel it weird to be that intimate in flesh, yet knows so little or nothing of that person.

    In my personal experience, I think sex with a person we at least know and enjoy being with, is a lot better than with a stranger.

    Hence I would say, I won't really want to have sex with a person who would just fuck anyone.

    I wouldn't say your point of view is old fashioned. It's still the standard that you have sex with someone you're in a relationship with, I believe that hook ups are still the exception and not the rule.

    • Agree. Well, I haven't had many hook ups (not proud of it, but it has happened), and my number of sex partner isn't that high. It has never happened that I had sex with different women even within a two month timeframe. It's indeed better to have sex with a trusted partner in a long term relationship as you have to worry about things like STD's less. People with a different hook up every weekend or sometimes even more than one during a weekend... I can't understand that either. A friend of mine fucked literally dozens of different girls during his study at the university. But unfortunately for him, never the girl he liked the most.

    I think this just doesn't work that way the other way around. Guys who want 'just sex' almost always drop their standards, whereas women who decide they're in the mood for 'just sex' can be even pickier then they would with dating.
