Could I get in trouble for wearing a semi-see through top?

I'm a bit of of exhibitionist, and I like to go braless because I know some people like to look. I got a new shirt recently and wore it out doing errands today, nothing underneath. I was in a hurry and just put it on right before I left. When I was in a store I paused to check myself in a mirror and I saw that the top was thinner than I thought it was, and you could actually sort of see the color of my areolas through it, not just the dimple in the shirt. I wasn't really concerned, but surprised, and did like how it looked.

But after I got home I remembered the city I live in now has a law against women's nipples (which is stupid!), so I'm worried that if I wear that shirt braless out again I could get into trouble if a police officer sees me or some Karen calls them on me. Does anyone know if these kind of laws can apply if you're wearing a top so they're technically covered, but still somewhat visible?

  • (For the record I know most women don't go braless because of exhibitionism, and I know there's nothing inherently sexual about women's nipples. This is my personal kink that I know some other people share, and i like to indulge it by how I dress sometimes. Like some women have kinks involving leather and may wear leather boots, pants or jackets. Please do not assume all strangers you meet are dressed for sexual purposes just because I do sometimes. Thanks.)

  • I don't know what city you're in but, feel free to introduce me to the twins anytime you like.
I remember one time years ago, I was downtown late one night, maybe between 10 & midnight. I had about half an hour to kill before my bus came so, I was just taking a casual stroll and saw this female cop standing outside her cop car having a very casual and friendly chat with a prostitute. I knew she was because, a little while earlier, she tried to get me to go with her. The thing was, she was wearing a white fishnet shirt! With nothing under it! So, you could CLEARLY see her nipples!! Why the cop didn't arrest her for public nudity or solicitation, I don't know!
Also, I have a picture of Britney Spears on stage during a live concert (in front of hundreds of little girls!) and she's wearing a see-through red plastic/rubber tube top and you can clearly see her nipples!
There's also been loads of cases where women either wear latex paint or body paint over their tits and they still walk around like that in public!
With this information I can only deduce that it's perfectly fine to let people see your nips, as long as you've got them covered with SOMETHING! Even if it IS mostly transparent!
In New York, there's been a law since 1993 where a woman can walk around topless in public anywhere a man can, as long as she's not doing it for monetary gain (prostitution).

  • As an exhibitionist myself, I understand you completely. I always thought it was kind of stupid that they sell those shirts if you can't even wear them in public. Like where else are you supposed to wear them?

Personally, I wouldn't risk it. Some girl just had the cops called on her by some Karen who thought her bikini was too revealing her kids shouldn't be seeing ass. The funniest part was she asked the cops to read her the exact ordinance that she violated, and it only said you're not allowed to be naked. Her friend was like, "She's not naked." They ended up letting her go, as she hadn't broken any laws.

Personally, I wouldn't risk it. If it was around younger people, or in a more hipster/liberal neighborhood, they probably wouldn't say anything. It's the older people that are more likely to complain.

  • What do you live?

    • I don't want to say specifically, it's just one of the cities with a law against women's nipples. Some people tried to get it changed a while ago but it didn't work unfortunately..

    • How many women have been arrested for this crime?

  • All I know is here where I live for about the past 15 to 20 years it's been completely legal for a woman to go as topless as a man can if the weather is hot.

    • I wish that were the case here! It's almost hot enough I'd like to go top less just for that reason lol. But no, the local government here insists women's nipples are a danger to the public 🙄

  • It would seem an unenforceable law tbh. I wouldn't sweat it. If karen spouts off just tell her she's jealous cuz her man likes the way you look and walk away. Enjoy your kink!

  • I'm guessing so? My question is where can I buy something like that for my girlfriend?

    • It's just a cream-color blouse, nothing fancy. Apparently it's meant to be worn over an undershirt or something.

    • Hmm gotcha

  • There's a time and place for see-through tops. Make sure you're not in the wrong place

    • What would be the wrong place?

    • It depends on what country and what part of that country you live in. Church and anywhere children are usually present around here.

    • Oh no worries then, I don't go to church and I don't hang out with kids even in private.

  • I think that is a grey area; and just how much of a fuss people around you want to make.

  • It depends. What are you doing/where are you going?

    • I was just running errands, things like buying groceries, dropping off mail, etc. Just normal stuff.

    • Then no. Grocery stores and post offices don’t have dress codes. I get schools, but frankly most business dress codes are unnecessary.

    • In any event, bras are definitely not a requirement. If you’re comfortable and don’t need the support, go for it.

  • Depends where you are and in what part of the world

    • I'm in a city in America. There is a law against women's nipples here, but i haven't lived here very long so I don't know how strictly it is inforced.

    • I don't know either because I'm in the UK lol
