Apparently, I read that some guys have done this with friends, usually as kids, but also as adults too. I just want to know if this is a normal thing for guys to do, or is it a gay thing.

Well I wouldn't say "compare" so much, and I've never done it with friends ever. And I don't purposely look at other guys, however if I happen to see them (in a change room or whatever) then sometimes I'll look out of curiosity. Comparing sort of but not really. More curiosity at how other guys are or "most guys". Sometimes it's interesting at how like women, we all come in different shapes and sizes. But I'm not thinking, "omg, he's so much bigger/smaller than me", it's just more of curiosity in general and how different people can be.
