If breasts are considered as private part then why is deep cleavage shown? Why only hiding nipples is considered necessary?

  • Its part of Western Puritan hypocritical mentality... in the 1960's there was a social movement to accept women the same ability to go 'topless' as males. Many states DO permit it EXCEPTING where prohibited by local ordinances. The sight and tactile contact of nipples is atavistically enticing & sexually arousing.

    In the 50's National Geographic travel magazine often drew controversy with photo spreads of African, Pacific Islander and So. American tribal cultures featuring candid photography of bare-breasted females; more so, if breast-feeding.

    Reminiscently TOO 'animalistic'... like the socially tolerated preference for the slang of cutsie 'boobs' or 'boobies' rather than the 'crudeness' of 'tits' because its too close to animal teats. Culturally you PLAY with 'boobies' but you SUCK, GROPE and FONDLE 'tits' or teat's nipples. Great care to not let your animal nipples grow 'perky' and sensitive just as he's not to 'get wood' erections. "BAD 'sinful' animal!" ;)

    • I'm not sure about that last paragraph, but the first two paragraphs are accurate. Especially the fact that it is a weird result of a puritanical ethos that has stuck around since the 1700s. It's the same origin of our alcohol laws and just needs to die.

  • Only the nipples are considered indecent. Why specifically just the nipples, I don't know, but it probably has to do with only part of the breasts being exposed, and not all of it. Kinda like how both genders can wear shorts, but not go walking around with their genitalia all out there.

    Regardless of how some people feel about it, we can't have men walking around with involuntary erections out there, women walking into schools and churches topless, and liberal women expecting all men to become gay or asexual for their own selfish benefit of not wearing a shirt in public.

    If some women (Sirenboobzilla) selfishly don't like that we have laws that prevent indecent exposure, public nudity, male erections, or an increase of rapes from happening, then they can just move to a nudist colony. Problem solved. Otherwise, they need to learn that the entire f*cking planet and everyone on it, doesn't revolve around them, and learn to grow up.

  • Honestly it doesn't make much sense to me either, but I would guess because nipples are seen as the most erogenous part of the breasts. If you think about it that's where most nerve endings are. Breasts themselves are a secondary sexual characteristic, not primary that's why the restriction on showing breasts is not that strong.

  • The worry about a nipple being seen, seems to be a very American issue. It is not a big deal in most places. How much of the Brestal nipple is exposed in different social settings does vary a lot from country to country or even one beach to another.

I worked at Victoria secret for many many years and saw hundreds of boobs to where I can’t believe how people react so childish to the topic. To me it’s another body part. Even nudity of genitals I think shouldn’t be so taboo.     It is a good question about why deep cleavage. I am delighted when I see side breast exposure more, and I am estactic if I see bottom breast exposure.

    It is something of a tease to see some of a breast so maybe thats the rule. Give guys the hope of seeing more but don't devalue by showing all of it.

    I guess for some reason exposing part of the breast is ok no matter top, bottom, or side. And whole breast exposure is not for some reason.
