Speaking as a parent, I will love my children whatever mistakes they think they've made, assuming you think it was a mistake; I'd love them if they just thought it was a major milestone in their lives, too.
Depends on how close you are with your mom. If you feel comfortable talking about it with her go ahead. Otherwise its nothing that needs to be known about unless you're effected someway.
