Why do people care so much about what the opposite sex thinks?

•is my penis big enough, do guys like small boobs, do guys like a lot of makeup, am I dressing too inappropriate/modest, do guys and girls care about...

After 5 years of being on this site the opinions on here from men and women have absolutely no bearing in real. I believe it's because many members on here little to no life experiences. So my question is... why do people care so much about what the opposite sex thinks? It's all a matter of opinion that varies between each person. I get its a matter of attraction and self assurance but why can't people just be themselves and not give a shit about what someone thinks?

  • everyone wants to look good. or think they have a great package. and a woman also wants to think she looks her best. even shopping. they can be married. but they want to think that guys are looking at her and thinking wow she's hot. and guys are the same way.

  • @Chico_brah I'm stealing your quote

  • What you're describing is very normal and natural. But let me really put a twist on your question. Why do women NOT care what their spouses think, but they care what strangers think?

Imagine a relaxed, lazy Sunday. The wife hasn't showered all day, she's dressed like a hobo, and her hair is a train wreck. Hubby realizes he's forgotten to pick up something for the BBQ. He asks her if she'll run down to the store to pick it up, while he continues preparing for the event. The wife looks at him like a deer in headlights. "Me? You want me to go? I look like shit. Maybe you should go. The store is only minutes away. If I go it'll take me two ours to get ready." :)

    • LMAO! I do that too! Now I'm starting to feel bad about it. lol That does seem completely backwards. The guy at the corner store should get the "train wreck," not hubby. :)

    • That is so true. Poor hubby feels like chopped liver! lol

    • @OliviaSmith Exactly! So I have to suggestions: 1. Just go to the store the way you are. 2. Start making yourself more presentable if front of hubby. Either way, he'll be just fine with it.

  • if you're going my scientific perspective, humans are trying to search out a good match for their next offspring which is why we care so much

if you're going by just in general, it's because in this day people are so judgmental that everybody is nearly second guessing, stressing, and thinking about everything over and over and wondering if they're good enough or not

but i do agree, people should stop caring what somebody thinks about them because its not improving anything at all if you're only gonna care what somebody else thinks of you in whatever way and not letting yourself be who you actually are
