  • Jail for the same amount of time the accused would receive if they were found guilty. It's tough to choose a duration without evidence but there must be jail time or else they could do it again. If people learn that falsely accusing someone will result in some form of punishment then there would be fewer false accusations. And the crap feminists say that it will prevent real victims from speaking out is bullsh*t. They started the problem in the first place.

  • That's a tricky question. If we are harsh to women who admit they lied about accusing someone of rape, and give then long prison terms, then when women falsely accuse a man, then she has the fear of prison if she relents and then tells the truth. Giving women who falsely accuse rape prison time, may increase the number of men who are innocent going to prison for rapes they did not commit.

  • Jail, prison, fines, or public service depending on the damages they’ve caused to the affected party or parties

  • I am, I’m talking about you, not her.

  • Some really messed-up people and comments here.

Plenty of 'men' here seem very much in favour of rape to teach women a lesson. You guys are genuinely scary insane. Is this weird empowerment somehow coming from your dear leader, the pussy-grabber-in-chief?

    • Where the fuck did you get that idea from? What man here has said a women should be raped? This is about the punishment a person should receive if they falsely accuse someone of rape.

    • Several men here have suggested that women who falsely accuse men, should themselves be raped as punishment. Have you not seen those responses?

  • Death sentence. After we elected one president, we have no need for still more pathological liars who just want attention.

  • As many others have said, they should face prison time. A rape accusation can destroy someone's life in a similar way to rape in my opinion (especially as a false rape accusation can lead to the accused being raped).

  • Jail. At least 6 months.

  • They should be sent to prison! Who the hell do they think they are!! Falsely accusing someone else of rape = will ruin that persons life (long term). It’s not fair and women who do this crazy acts shouldn’t be given any sympathy because when they falsely accused that person (they weren’t very sympathetic about it).

    • They also ruin it for the millions of real victims, forcing true victims to face harsh skepticism. My father was Clergy. He never allowed himself to be alone in a room with any woman of any age, PERIOD because of the danger of false accusation. Think about that. Anti-false rape accusation procedures are built into many professions because it is so common.

  • Jail time

  • Take them out back behind the wood shed and shoot them.

  • Same amount of time a rapist would get. If you're willing to subject someone to a lifetime of imprisonment, you yourself should suffer it.

  • Sued for defamation maybe. But thats it.

    • But no jail time?

    • @sonnysunshine not unless she is tried for committing perjury while in court. I get it, being falsely accused of rape is awful and it shouldn't happen. You know what what would also suck? Being jailed for a "false report" after you were actually raped because you didn't have a good enough lawyer and then watching your rapist walk free. The legal playing field between rapists and victims is already even, dont tip it toward the rapist side.

    • That fear of having the accuser being labeled a liar is what keeps the courts bias towards the reporter sides. In a perfect world it should encourage more victims to come forward (and it does). But I was once falsely accused in HS. It didn’t escalate to the police but having dozens of kids yelling at me and having dudes trying to start fights with in the hallway... just a totally great memory you know? My best friends brother was also falsely accused years ago. She cheated on her boyfriend and a party with him. They had several witnesses see him and her together. Not once did she say stop or yell or anything. Fortunately she dropped the charges two days later. But he still has to the perp identification in front of the apartment with everybody watching. Feminists try to write this off as “very rare” but it’s NOT. There are innocent men sitting in prison right now because of false rape accusations. Google the “innocence project” and the number one wrongful conviction is rape. So how do we balance this for both people? For starters make it illegal to release the accused name to the media until AFTER he is convicted. Also they should bring back liar detector tests. They have gotten more accurate over the years.

  • First and foremost, their future accusations and testimony should never be accepted by the court/police ever again.

Secondly, they should be fined OR imprisoned for time duration depending on the accusation and the punishment of the crime that they were accusing.

    • Also I don't agree that they deserve the same punishment so the rapist would have gotten. Accusing someone of a crime is far less severe of an act than actually committing the crime.

    • Legally, I agree with you. Fear of a harsh punishment for reporting a crime can make it so people don't report crimes. However, emotionally, I disagree. Being raped is potentially long-term emotionally damaging, and physically violating for the course of a few minutes at worst. Going to prison, however, is definitely long-term emotionally damaging and physically violating for years. False rape accusations are much worse than rape as far as their impact on the victim.

    • @starfyredragon the point of a punishment is to make it fair and also exemplary. I think never accepting the accusers future accusations ever again is enough to discourage anyone from doing it, but giving such harsh punishment for accuser will be a huge advantage for the rapist and it's very unfair for the victim since rape is so hard to prove anyway.

  • They should face the automatic minimum sentence for a first time rape offence, and also be registered as a sex offender.

  • She should be sued or do time if she can't pay the money because she destroy someone reputation and family life and cause people to lose trust and confident in that individual and also be public put in newspaper for falsely accusing someone.

  • Some type of moderate legal action.
Maybe a year in jail or 10,000 dollar fine or something.
Maybe a bit more, I am not sure.

  • Made to pay compensation to the person accused and repay the amount of money it cost in taxes, whilst doing community service helping real rape victims and serving a minimum of 8 years in prison

  • Jailed for the amount of time the person she accused wouldve been in there

  • Same punishment and time that they are accusing of.
